Bilateral Superficial Cervical Plexus Block in Thyroid Surgery with Intravenous versus Local Infiltration of Dexamethasone – A Randomized Single Blinded Comparative Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Post-operative pain for thyroid surgeries under general anaesthesia is inadequately managed. Bilateral superficial cervical plexus block (BSCPB) surgery causes adequate analgesia without any significant side effects. Dexamethasone commonly used in to prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). The study objective was comparison of efficacy between add-on intravenously Ropivacaine alone bilateral versus added with the same producing preventing post-operative vomiting. Methods: Randomized single-blind clinical done on eighty patients 18-60 years either sex, ASA I II, scheduled elective anaesthesia. Patients were divided into two groups (n=40). In block, Group DB (n=40) had received 20 ml Inj. (0.25%) 2ml (8 mg) DI 20ml 2 distilled water, along IV water group group. Time rescue VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) score that moment incidence PONV noted up 24 hrs post-operatively. Results: No statistically difference found among respect time analgesia, PONV. Conclusion: From our study, we conclude different routes administration during BSCPB has no extra benefit surgery.

Randomized controlled trial of bilateral superficial cervical plexus block versus placebo in thyroid surgery.
BACKGROUND Bilateral superficial cervical block during thyroid surgery can reduce postoperative pain but its value is unclear. This randomized clinical trial assessed the efficacy of such regional anaesthesia on postoperative pain after thyroid surgery performed under general anaesthesia. METHODS Patients undergoing thyroid surgery were randomized to one of four groups in a double-blind fashi...
متن کاملBilateral Superficial Cervical Plexus Block Alone or Combined with Bilateral Deep Cervical Plexus Block for Pain Management After Thyroid Surgery
Background and Objectives: Patients undergoing thyroid surgery need postoperative pain management. Bilateral superficial cervical plexus block (BSCBs) has been shown to improve postoperative analgesia. The objective of this study was to assess its analgesic efficacy in the first 24 hours after thyroid surgery alone and when combined with bilateral deep cervical plexus block (BDCBs). Methods: We...

متن کاملBilateral superficial cervical plexus block in combination with general anesthesia has a low efficacy in thyroid surgery: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
BACKGROUND A combination of bilateral superficial cervical plexus block (BSCPB) and general anesthesia is recommended for thyroid surgery. Proof of the efficacy of this combination remains weak. Furthermore, data on the safety of this regimen are lacking. Therefore, a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCT) to evaluate the efficacy and safety of BSCPB as an adjunct to general anesth...
متن کاملA comparison of superficial versus combined (superficial and deep) cervical plexus block for carotid endarterectomy: a prospective, randomized study.
Carotid endarterectomy may be performed by using cervical plexus blockade with local anesthetic supplementation by the surgeon during surgery. Most practitioners use either a superficial cervical plexus block or a combined (superficial and deep) block, but it is unclear which offers the best operative conditions or greatest patient satisfaction. We compared the two techniques in patients underg...
